DIARIO DE AVISOS revealed on August 28 that the legendary Chestnut Tree of the Seven Pernadaslocated in Aguamansa, in the summits of La Orotava and cataloged as one of the historical and monumental trees of the Canary Islands, with 500 years old, had been fatally injured by the fire. The flames penetrated the hollow trunk of the tree and devoured it from the inside.
Members of the Forestry Brigades of Tenerife (Brifor), dependent on the Cabildo, have decided to apply foam concentrate in order to reduce the internal combustion of the trunk in a last attempt to save the mythical specimen.
The same action has been carried out on other century-old chestnut trees in the heights of La Orotava that were also affected by the fire.
There is something very odd about all these fires around the world.
