The critical situation in the supply of water supply in the Southwestern district of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has managed to save itself thanks to the start-up again of the Aguamansa canal, the main water supply route to this part of the chicharrera capital. On Monday, the Councilor for Public Services, Carlos Tarifeappealed to the population to respect the edict with the restrictions on the use of water for non-essential issues, since the deposit of Emmasa I only had water until noon yesterday. Some restrictions that, out of prudence, will be maintained at least until the weekend, as Tarife confirmed yesterday.
“The Aguamansa channel is already fixed and 70% of the water that should be reaching us is reaching us, and the analytics have come out correct,” he explained in a video posted on his social networks. With these data, the first deputy mayor also abounded that “keeping the Southwest with water and the next few days will be much easier, but out of prudence we maintain the restrictions already announced, since up to two times the canal has stopped work, so let’s wait a few days.” Tarife insisted on calling for responsibility at this time: “I ask you to respect the restrictions at least during the weekend. We will dictate when these measures are lifted, but we need to continue saving water to overcome this crisis.”
The mayor recalled that it is forbidden to scrub the car, water or wash down common areas or rooftops, as stated in the proclamation issued by the City Council this week. The Consistory has also stopped irrigating and washing down to save water and thus avoid having to cut off the supply.
