To the rich chicharrera tapa!

The Ruta de la Tapa ‘Kilometer 0’ in Santa Cruz de Tenerife already has winners. The ‘webapp’ of the event, held during the month of July, registered 18,000 visits and more than 2,500 votes were counted for the different gastronomic proposals of the 77 participating establishments. A complete success.

The Route of the Tapas Kilometer 0 of Santa Cruz de Tenerifeheld from July 13 to 30, and in which 77 gastronomic establishments from the capital of Tenerife participated, with the local product of the Anaga Massif as the main axis, already has winners. First place goes to La Casita de Nazareno (Calle Jesús Nazareno, 14) with the creation La Casita, a tapa with a roll. 2 Grados Celígrados (Avenida de San Sebastián, 51) and Cafeteria Bahía (Avenida de Anaga, 7) complete the podium.

The CEO of the Capital Development Society, organizer of the event, Carmen Pérez, explains that “for more than two weeks, residents and tourists had the opportunity to take a culinary tour of the entire city, through the tapas Made with ingredients sourced locally and from the islands. She adds that both gastronomic routes “were merged with the creativity of each establishment and the event has turned out to be a complete success.”

Pérez points out that “on this occasion, we once again have a webapp that has once again proven to be an effective and useful promotional tool.” Proof of this are the almost 18,000 visits obtained, the more than 8,800 registered unique users, and the number of more than 2,500 registered votes to determine the winning gastronomic proposals of this edition.

The councilor adds that, in addition, “this webapp has provided users with immediate access to the most detailed information on participating establishments and their culinary offerings.” The prize list of the contest is defined by the popular vote. In this sense, the first place falls to La Casita de Nazareno with La Casita, a tapa with a roll; the second place is for 2 Centigrade Degrees with the tapa Salmon toast with orange curry with vegetables. The third most voted establishment completes the podium, which turns out to be Bahía Cafeteria with the lid: Ños!! The goat got mad. In addition to receiving an accrediting diploma, they will be promoted on the social networks of the Degusta Santa Cruz Anaga Smart Destination Product Club.

«The Route of the Kilometer 0 Tapa was focused on elaborations with products from kilometer 0, and in particular, with those from the Anaga Massif, Tenerife and Canary Islands“stresses Carmen Pérez, who also recalls that” the restaurant sector is one of the main economic engines of the municipality and with initiatives like this we intend to boost consumption, while promoting and valuing local products. She summarizes: “Not only among the chicharrero public but among the thousands of visitors who come to Santa Cruz daily.”

three more routes

«From the Development Society, Pérez points out, they are currently working on three other gastronomic routes that will be held in Santa Cruz before the end of the year. They will be thematic and soon we will present the first one, which will take place in September. In his presentation we will take the opportunity to deliver the prizes for the Kilometer 0 Tapa route, both to those in charge of the establishments and the award for the clientele”.

The initiative is included in Line of Action 10 Anaga Smart Destination of the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy Anaga in the heart – Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), within the framework of the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain (POPE) 2014-2020, and by the City Council of the capital of Tenerife. Both the contest and the choice of the local Anaga product culminate with the certificate of success.
