The regional president, Fernando Clavijothe meeting ended last night to give an account of the situation of the fire that affects Tenerife just like it started. Thanking the “magnificent work of all the staff, coordination, extinction, security and logistics”, who works to end the nightmare.

Yesterday was an ambivalent day, because although the evolution of the fire is beginning to normalize, given the unusual behavior that it had presented since shortly before midnight on Tuesday, when it was declared in Arafo, the truth is that it continues without control and has entered Güimarso they are already 10 municipalities affected. The flames have swept 5,000 hectares and cover a perimeter of 50 kilometers.

As detailed by Montse Román, head of Civil Protection and Emergency Attention of the Government of the Canary Islands, and in the absence of adjusting the perimeter in regards to the municipality of Güímar after the advance of the fire through Pico Cho Marcial, the affectation of the fire by territories would continue this order: Arafo (44%), Candelaria (35%), Santa Úrsula (20%), La Victoria (15%), El Rosario (13%), El Sauzal (7%), La Orotava (5%), La Matanza (4%) and Tacoronte (1%).

Precisely, and within more favorable prospects compared to previous days, the president of the regional Executive pointed to the “discordant note” of the arrival of the fire in Güímar, which, as a preventive measure, has forced the evacuation of the areas of Los Peeled, Las Dehesas and Las Coloradas. In the same way, the different centers that the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) has there have been evacuated in Izaña.

After the repair of the medium-sized helicopter that suffered a breakdown on Thursday, and the arrival of the Kamov helicopter, with the capacity to discharge 4,500 liters of water, today there will be a total of 17 aerial means, plus two for coordination. As for the ground forces, 265 people will work in the extinction work.

Likewise, according to the insular president, Rosa Dávila, once the break point of the Aguamansa canal has been located, today an attempt will be made to repair it. A day when temperatures are expected to continue to rise, relative humidity is low and there may be occasional gusts of high winds of 50 kilometers per hour.
