Before the declaration of maximum alert due to high temperatures in the Canary Islands, the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has sports activities temporarily suspended in open-air municipal facilities that lack cover.

From the Consistory they inform that the use of soccer fields, the Municipal Tennis Center and the Las Delicias sports court are suspended until 9:00 p.m. due to the high temperatures.

“At the same time, the population is urged to follow the recommendations and avoid practicing sports until sunset,” they ask.

As reported by the Municipal Operational Coordination Center (Cecopal), this measure is taken in order to guarantee the safety of citizens, based on precautionary recommendations due to possible risks to the health of the population.

This seeks to protect residents and visitors from exposure to extreme temperatures caused by the heat wave.
