The ARN Innova Science and Technology Summer Laboratory, which takes place at the Arona Business Center, has been holding a series of scientific workshops and educational activities since July 26 with the aim of enabling students between the ages of 9 and 14 in the municipality to Increase your interest in scientific research and information.
Promoted by the Arona City Council and the University of La Laguna, and within the III program of activities for the promotion of business innovation in the municipality, ARN Innova, 39 schoolchildren from 4th grade to 2nd ESO of the municipality participate.
During the first week of the Summer Laboratory, from July 26 to 28, three scientific workshops lasting 110 minutes each were held, aimed at awakening curiosity and passion for science, all under the guidance of young scientists and scientists from the University of La Laguna.
The importance of water purification and its relevance for human and environmental well-being, the secrets of the universe and the mysteries of the cosmos, and the connection between fine arts and science were some of the contents of these workshops.
In addition to the scientific workshops, the students received training on scientific journalism, in which they had the opportunity to interview two researchers from the University of La Laguna and write their own reports. This experience allowed students to delve into the world of science journalism and communicate their findings clearly and concisely.
Another outstanding aspect was the participation of the students in activities on computational thinking where they were introduced to the concepts of algorithms, programs and coding through manipulative activities. This immersion in the world of computer science and computational logic provided students with fundamental skills and knowledge about digital news.
At the end of the workshop, the students received a diploma which was delivered by the Councilor for Economic Promotion and Employment of the Arona City Council, Dácil León, who congratulated the students for their outstanding participation and commitment to learning.
