The City Council of Los Realejos will subsidize from next year one hundred percent ofl Tax on Mechanical Traction Vehicles –popularly called filming– to historic vehicles, while a fifty percent reduction will be established in the case of cars over 30 years old.
To be eligible for these discounts, as established in Royal Decree 1247/1995, of July 14, vehicles must be at least 25 years old based on their date of manufacture or, if this is not known, the date of first registration. Failing that, the date on which the corresponding type or variant was discontinued.
A vehicle will enjoy its recognition as historic, according to its age, talso depending on the date of manufacture of its original parts and their spare parts, with the exception of consumable elements. If there were any modifications to the structure or components, the consideration of a historic vehicle will be determined at the time of cataloging.
Taking into account the regulations published in the Official Gazette of the Province, for a vehicle to be considered historic, a prior inspection in an official laboratory accredited by the competent body of the Autonomous Community will be required. In addition, it must also have the favorable resolution of cataloging the vehicle as historic, issued by the aforementioned regional department in which the recognition of the age of the car is processed.
Another of the requirements for recognition is the technical inspection, prior to registration, carried out at a vehicle technical inspection station in the province of the applicant’s domicile. In addition, the vehicle must be registered as historic at the Provincial Traffic Headquarters of the interested party’s address.
The mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo gonzalezwho announced the measure together with the Councilor for the Treasury, Aránzazu Domínguez, recalled that “this measure was promoted months ago from the local government in response to the neighborhood petition for the recovery of the aforementioned tax advantage through a modification in its own regulatory municipal ordinance”, and recalled that the final approval took place in the Official Gazette of the Province last April.
To benefit from this bonus, it is essential that interested parties formalize the application before December 31, 2023 at the offices of the Consorcio de Tributos de Tenerife, providing the documentation of the vehicle in question. “In this way, we try to alleviate the annual tax burden on an important population group in our municipality that owns this type of vehicle,” explained the mayor of Los Realejos.
Adolfo González also recalled that there are 75 percent bonuses for other vehicles that consume biofuels or biofuels, that use a hybrid technology system, engine electric or those that work with hydrogen or other non-polluting gases.
