The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, with the Councilor for Works and Infrastructures, Javier Rivero, and the mayor Purificación Dávila, along with technicians from the concessionaire and the City Council, visited yesterday the start of Phase 1, with the fencing of the area, “of the works that will remodel and transform La Rosa street and that will be the first step for the rehabilitation of the El Toscal neighborhood,” announced the mayor. He advanced that the estimate is that “the works of the entire street are completed in 24 months”, making it clear that “access to shops and homes is absolutely guaranteed through the sidewalks.”
Bermúdez indicated that “this is a very important artery for the El Toscal neighborhood and for the entire city” and highlighted that “it is necessary to stress that the work will be carried out in phases, and from here I announce that until it is finished one phase will not start with another, unless there are small adjustments that do not prevent the full mobility of road traffic in that area. In addition, he stressed that “this action does not force us to close Calle de La Rosa, which is still open for pedestrians and businesses.”
“The sidewalks will remain open -added Bermúdez- during all the phases of this work and, although we know that any action of these characteristics always represents difficulties and complexities, the idea is that it can coexist with commercial activity and access from the neighbors to their houses.
For his part, Javier Rivero explained that “the start of the works, which will be carried out in sections or phases, up to a total of 8, will be carried out in the direction of traffic, that is, starting from Almeida”. To which he added that “this Phase 1 will last approximately 4 months, and includes the section between the San Isidro road and El Pasaje Segundo Ravina, as well as the intersections with El Saludo and Gaspar Fernández streets, and the next phase will not it will begin until it is finished, except for minor details that can be finished off without affecting traffic”.
“This execution -the councilor recalled- aims to remodel La Rosa street, adapting it to an accessible space for all types of users, thereby revitalizing the commercial areas and the attractiveness of the road.”
Phone
On the other hand, the technicians explained that more than thirty car parks and an information telephone number (680 203 418) will be set up for residents and merchants, to maintain constant communication with each of the areas where action is taking place, precisely to go Solving, directly, the incidents that may occur. At the same time, it was reported that the City Council is studying various alternatives to generate parking spaces in the medium and long term.
This project involves an investment of 4,385,000 euros, with a grant of 1,719,156 euros from Next Generation funds. The implementation of the Low Emissions Zone will give residents priority to use the area’s surface car parks.
