A southern beach Tenerife woke up this Tuesday morning with a macabre discovery: the carcass of a dolphin on the sand. The first users of the Leocadio Machado beach, in El Médano, found the animal dead and with obvious signs of having suffered a violent death.
Although at the moment it is unknown what could have happened to the dolphin, according to witnesses the animal has several blows and wounds throughout the body. In fact, she remains on the sand in the middle of a pool of blood, which may mean that she got there still alive.
It is not the first to appear an animal stranded in this area of the island. The most relevant occurred last year 2019 when a whale about five meters long appeared on the shore of El Médano.

This type of finds on the coasts of Canary Islands they are relatively common. The proximity of cetaceans and mammals to the island coast means that many times they arrive at the Archipelago to die, both due to natural and accidental causes.
This is the case of the last of these events, registered in La Palma and which has had great repercussions precisely because of the cause: A sperm whale washed up on the coast after dying with a huge amber stone inside.
