The forest fire declared on Saturday afternoon on the island of Tenerife has maintained a favorable evolution during the night, which has allowed the withdrawal of the two helicopters that had been operating since early in the morning.
The situation has improved overnight thanks to the work carried out by the Cabildo Fire Prevention and Extinction Operation, the island corporation has reported.
The latest data indicated that the fire affected 60 hectares of scrubland between the municipalities of Arafo and Candelaria and required the preventive evacuation of 50 people and 200 head of cattle, as well as the total closure of a highway.
The fire started around 5:15 p.m. below the Chivisaya viewpoint area and the evacuated areas are Las Hermosas, in Candelaria, and Las Tapias road, in Arafo, while the TF-523 highway remains closed.
At the moment, four high-mobility tactical vehicles are deployed in the area, with 16 components, a Tenerife Fire Brigade mother vehicle, two agents and eight people from the Forestry Brigades.
