The Adelantado square hosted this Friday the second edition of the The Proud Lagoon Festivalone of the outstanding events in the program of events promoted by the City Council to commemorate the pride day and claim the rights of this collective.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, has highlighted the importance of this festival, from the point of view of public awareness, “so that we do not take a step back in LGTBI rights and the achievements achieved as a society in the last years”.
From the moment it opened, tents with gastronomic areas and a musical session by the Canarian DJ Sistah vibes were set up. Starting at 5:00 p.m., Silvia Torrents and Óscar Tiraida were in charge of offering a storyteller for diversity and, just half an hour later, the Parade for Diversity began, linking the Cristo and Adelantado squares in their route.
The final point of the parade route was crowned at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation of the event by Exhuberancia Carey, who handed over the baton to Divinas y Orgullosas (at 7:00 p.m.), La Cangreja (8:00 p.m.) and Back to Drag (9:00 p.m. hours). The closing of the Festival, called Today I feel pena and which is scheduled at 10:00 p.m., will combine Dj Set and Tenerife Ball Room Scene. The program for the celebration of LGTBIQ+ Pride Day continues on Saturday, at 10:00, with the Meeting of LGTBI Associations at La Laguna Gran Hotel.
