SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The PSOE candidate for the Congress of Deputies Sergio Matos has affirmed that La Palma “deserves a government that is committed to dignifying pensions, as the Executive led by Pedro Sánchez has done, which has approved an increase of 8.5%, compared to to the ridiculous increase of 0.25% that the Popular Party put forward”.
This has been revealed when assessing “a capital aspect of the policies deployed by the Government of Spain, which has redounded notably to the benefit of the palmera society, given the large number of pensioners on the Island.”
“A reality that has been promoted by the Government of Progress, which we have to protect against an agenda of setbacks and repeals with which the Popular Party and Vox go to the next general elections on July 23, as can be seen in all and each of the administrations where they have touched power”, stressed Sergio Matos.
“We are talking about people who have worked throughout their lives to build a vital project and support their families to get a dignified and fair retirement at the end of their career,” added the socialist candidate.
Sergio Matos stressed that the PP of Núñez Feijóo and his Vox partners “made clear the rejection of the increase in pensions approved by the Government of Pedro Sánchez by voting against the General State Budget.” “It is evident that the PP does not care that pensioners lose purchasing power,” he stressed.
“Precarious pensions, as the Popular Party claims, would represent a blow to thousands of La Palma families, who have been able to verify that despite the serious difficulties suffered during this legislature, unprecedented social advances have been made. Against those who protect those who can pay private pension plans, the PSOE defends the social majority of this country”, he concludes.
