The Granadilla de Abona City Council has already formed its new government group 2023-2027, with the corresponding distribution of areas, after the signing of the decree by the mayoress, Jennifer Miranda (PSOE), last Tuesday morning, much before the PP presented in the registry of the Consistory (it was at 7:34 p.m.) a file sanctioning its two councilors, Marcos Antonio Rodríguez and Bianca Cerbán, as a result of their support for the socialist councilor, thus ignoring the requirement of their party to agree with the Canary Islands Coalition (CC) and invest nationalist José Domingo Regalado mayor, with the support of both Vox votes.
The file can culminate with the suspension of public office and affiliation by the two wayward councilors and, therefore, the demand that they return their minutes -or, otherwise, they would continue in the Corporation as non-attached councillors-. If they appeal, the two ediles will be able to maintain their delegations, although, according to the Law of Municipalities of the Canary Islands, if the municipal political groups have not been formally constituted -the term expires tomorrow-, they will not be able to receive remuneration or occupy area delegations.
The new government structure, which is consolidated into eight mayoral tenures and four special delegations, includes the two mayors of the PP, Marcos Rodríguez and Bianca Cerbán, in Public Services and Ecological Transition and Contracting, Employment and Economic Development, respectively. Jennifer Miranda states that the distribution of areas meets priorities such as speeding up the technical office and the urban planning area, the creation of green infrastructures, the improvement of general services and cleaning, as well as the promotion of economic development and job creation. .
Education and Housing are other fundamental areas, marking as a priority the payment of scholarships at the beginning of the school year and the creation of a true public housing policy in the southern municipality of Granadilla de Abona.
As for the rest of the government departments, the first tenure of the Mayor’s Office and the Area of Urban Planning, Historical Heritage and Good Governance is for Óscar Delgado; the fourth tenure of Mayor and the Area of Economy and Finance, Sustainable Tourism and Security, for María Luz Fernández; the fifth tenure of Mayor and Internal Regime, Education and Citizen Attention for José Adán García Casañas; the sixth tenure of Mayor and Community Welfare, Housing, Senior Citizens, Health and Animal Welfare, for Carolina Marcia Bethencourt; the seventh tenure of Mayor and Sports, Youth and Sustainable Mobility, for Caín Franco Gómez, and the eighth tenure of Mayor and Culture, Celebrations and Citizen Participation, for José Francisco Socas Díaz.
Likewise, the special delegations in Education, Diversity and Equality are for Ángela María Villalba Luis; Animal Welfare, Safety and Sustainable Mobility, for Carmen Dolores Rodríguez de Vera; Citizen Participation and the Elderly for Ignacio Carmelo Mendoza, and Youth and Complaints and Suggestions, for Celia Navil Trujillo.
