the socialist sandra left today became the first female mayor of tacorontecounting on the votes in favor of Canarian Coalition and People’s Partywith whom he has formalized a government pact for the next four years.

After reading the corresponding article, the five candidacies were voted: those of the PSOE, NC, Sí se puede, Cs and Vox after withdrawing theirs PP and CC.

Being the first to obtain an absolute majority of the legal number of members of the Corporation, Sandra Izquierdo was proclaimed mayor to the applause of all those present.

“Today is a special day for me and for many women because Tacoronte breaks that glass ceiling and I am the first woman mayor,” said Sandra Izquierdo amid great applause.

Likewise, he promised that his door “will be open to all who need it” and assured that the “rudder of the ship” will be taken by the three political formations that agreed.

The Plenary of the Corporation is made up of eight political parties: PSOE (5 councilors), CC and NC (4), PP (3), Somos Tacoronte (2), and Cs, Sí se Puede and Vox (1).

The constitution of the new Corporation was held at the San Agustín House of Culture, attended by numerous politicians from the Island, including the former mayor of the municipality, Guillermo Graham, together with Gustavo Matos, Nira Fierro, Pedro Martín, Lope Afonso , Marcos González, Ignacio Rodríguez.
