SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 26. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The general secretary and socialist candidate for re-election as president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has taken advantage of his last act of the electoral campaign to call for mobilization on Sunday, to make the PSOE “the clear winner at the polls”.

In an act held this Friday in the Laguna town of Tejina, in which the local candidate, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and Pedro Martín, candidate for the Cabildo de Tenerife, have also participated, Torres has asked for the vote for the Socialist Party for being the option that best represents the social majority of the islands and a guarantee for the defense of equality, rights and public services.

“Let’s consolidate the political change started in 2019. Vote on Sunday and win,” he said. “This is a strong land, of honest and hard-working people, and who have come out ahead of all the adversities that we have had to experience in recent years,” said the socialist leader, who has reviewed the progress made in this legislature , warning that “if we do not get majority support at the polls, the policies of the past that have nothing to do with what we have consolidated in these years will return.”

Torres has confessed that he is “proud” of having worked as “president of the eight islands”: “There have been difficult moments, but I never felt faint. We socialists will be clear that being part of this organization is a vital issue. It is true that We have different customs on each island, but we have a common feeling: to defend this land without cheap folklorism”.

Luis Yeray Gutiérrez thanked the work of all the comrades who have been involved in the socialist electoral campaign, also highlighting the important work that the Socialist Party has done at the head of the institutions in which it has governed in these difficult years. “On Sunday, to win, to win and to win”, he ended up saying.

Pedro Martín, for his part, has referred to that “other way of governing and understanding the island” of the PSOE compared to previous stages in the Cabildo de Tenerife. “The Tenerife of the Canary Coalition is the one of different speeds. We are a project in which we all fit and which is called Tenerife. We have endeavored on that path”, added the socialist candidate for re-election at the head of the Island Corporation .
