Seven years have passed since the Santa Cruz City Council announced its intention to make Avenida de Anaga the first 100% sustainable street in the Canary Islands. After years of processing, finally today the Governing Board of the Santa Cruz City Council will approve the project 100% sustainable street, which will have an execution cost of almost two million euros, and which will be a reality within a period of eight months after the work is tendered. The initiative that the Consistory approves today includes the technical specifications that must be met by the offers that are presented once the specifications are prepared and the tender is put out.

The purpose of the project is to establish and justify the technical and execution conditions, which must be met by a set of renewable energy installations, an installation of recharging points and a consumption monitoring system in public lighting panels and traffic signage.

Specifically, it is established that a photovoltaic solar energy installation is necessary for self-consumption with a peak power of 477.60 kWp and a nominal power of 500kWn. The photovoltaic field will be located on nine parking canopy modules for a total of 180 covered parking spaces. The photovoltaic field is connected to a total of five 100kWn inverters each.

You will also need a installation for recharging electric vehicle made up of six outdoor charging stations (four semi-fast charging, with two charging points, and two fast charging, with the same number of points). Similarly, a 630 kVA transformation center and an energy monitoring system will be included for a total of five public lighting panels, five traffic signaling control panels, five generation inverters and six vehicle charging points. electrical (SAVE).

The generation facilities, charging points and monitoring are based on a previous document, in which the consumption associated with public lighting and traffic signage in the area comprised of Avenida de la Constitución, Avenida Marítima and Avenida Francisco were analyzed. La Roche, in which an annual consumption of around 510,000 kWh was estimated, designing the generation systems through renewable energies accordingly in order to offset the carbon footprint and partial compensation of that linked to electric vehicle recharging , as shown in the project.

The renewable energy generation facilities and the installation of recharging points are projected in the parking area attached to the Casa de la Pólvora on Avenida de la Constitución, and the monitoring system is planned in various consumption charts, both public lighting and traffic signaling located on the avenues of the Constitution, the Maritime and Francisco La Roche.

All of this implies that, with the execution of this project, we will proceed to obtain clean energy from renewable sources, replacing conventional fossil energy sources.
