The forest fire outbreak declared today Saturday inside the Caldera de Taburiente remains at level 1 and nine people have been evacuated, two of whom were camped. The air resources deployed to the area have carried out a total of 52
discharges of 46,800 liters of water, as reported by the Cabildo de La Palma.
The conditions until sunset have been favorable to develop the work of the device. Temperatures have not exceeded 30 degrees and are expected to continue to drop overnight. There was also no wind or air in the area and the relative humidity remains below 30 percent.
After sunset, the air resources deployed to the area have been withdrawn, while the ground personnel will remain operating in the place during the night. It is expected that on Sunday morning, when visibility conditions allow it, the air resources will be reactivated.
From the Cabildo they influence the importance of citizen collaboration to guarantee the safety and correct functioning of the operation, hence the importance of nobody approaching the National Park to see the fire.
The forest fire outbreak was declared shortly before 4:30 p.m. in Palmita de la Hiedra, inside the Caldera de Taburiente, at the base of the Cascada de la Desfondada, in the municipality of El Paso, an area with difficult access and complicated orography.
The means transferred to the area are personnel from the Environment Service of the Cabildo de La Palma, through five crews, Eirif, personnel from the La Caldera de Taburiente National Park and the MI 61, MI 51 and MI 71 helicopters of the Emergency Group. and Salvage (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The helicopter transported Eirif from La Gomera is also being transferred to the site and checkpoints have been pre-activated. In addition, the Eirif team from La Gomera and La Palma, airborne and operating in the area of the attempt, are in the area. So far, 52 unloadings have been made from the MI 61, MI 51 and MI 71 helicopters. Likewise, the Civil Protection of Los Llanos de Aridane and El Paso have collaborated.
Currently, the Command Post is located in the facilities of the La Palma Emergency Coordination Center (Cecopin) in Breña Alta.
