SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 12. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife and candidate for re-election has presented this Friday the PSOE proposal to develop a Plan for Motorhomes in Tenerife, with six parking and overnight areas spread throughout the island.
The number of motorhomes that will house will be approximately 350 seats and will entail an estimated cost of 10 million euros for carrying out the work and its complete equipment.
Specifically, Pedro Martín explained, the municipalities with which work is already underway and have communicated their interest in hosting this type of location in their municipalities are Granadilla, Arico, Los Silos, Arona, Icod de Los Vinos and La Laguna.
“More and more families are choosing this type of transport for their vacations and leisure time; it is necessary to enable and regulate their presence on our island,” Martín said in a note sent by the Socialists.
Of the six areas, five are located along the coast. The sixth, that of the municipality of Icod de Los Vinos, is in the middle, as a different alternative that can be adapted to all types of users.
Among the services that will accommodate the parking and overnight areas for motorhomes are green areas, electric charging points, shaded areas on the plots, wastewater evacuation points (grey and black water), common spaces and services (picnic areas, leisure spaces), toilets and changing rooms.
“The starting point at the beginning of the mandate was zero. There was no previous work that analyzed the situation of the camping and motorhome activity in Tenerife,” specified the socialist candidate for re-election of the Cabildo de Tenerife.
During the last year, contact has been maintained with the 31 municipalities of the island, providing them with a detailed study of the areas with the greatest demand on the territory, as well as land alternatives for the implementation of parking areas and overnight stays for caravans.
The objective is to establish agreements with the town halls to obtain the transfer of the land that will then allow undertaking the conditioning works necessary to provide these areas with all the services.
In parallel to all this work, work has also been carried out on the preparation of an insular ordinance to regulate camping activities on the island which, once completed, will be made available to all municipalities so that they can adopt it in their own territories as a formula to organize and regulate this type of settlement.
