The International Day of Families yesterday filled the streets and squares of the historic city of La Laguna with thousands of people, an extensive program designed to offer shared leisure spaces and visibility of the great diversity existing in the municipality, with all the resources to people with disabilities and proposals that ranged from rock to k-pop, from the circus to cosplay or from Alice in Wonderland to the “trip to a thousand and one places” by the Mondragón Orchestra that closed this traditional and huge annual event.
The celebration extended from the iconic La Concepción tower to Heraclio Sánchez street and was divided into seven thematic zones with proposals for all ages in which there were markets, exhibitions, workshops, music and a sports zone.
The celebration of this day, also demanding the rights of children, was brought forward nine days with respect to the date of the international commemoration so that it would not be affected by the electoral campaign. And if this festival is already a tradition in the city of Aguere, so was the drizzle from the lagoon, welcome in times of drought but which could not drown out the desire for fun of all the families who came to the World Heritage City to enjoy a party that defends the importance of returning public spaces to the public. The lagoon helmet was a party.
