The Town Hall of The Realejos maintains its commitment to original lines of subsidies and aid that open up new opportunities for groups such as the unemployed in the municipality. After allocating 10,000 euros in April to subsidize seeds and fruit trees of local varieties to people without work but with land to cultivate, The Consistory repeats for the second consecutive year a line of aid so that the unemployed can put vacant land they own or leased to agricultural use.
The application period for these aids is open until May 26 and, as stated in the bases of the call, they can be justified with expenses for clearing tasks, reuse of organic remains or rental of agricultural machinery for land preparation. for cultivation, such as subsoilers or rotavators, among other devices. This second line of specific aid for the unemployed, promoted by the Department of Rural Development, has an initial item of 5,000 euros, as in 2022, to encourage the start of an economic activity by unemployed people. , promoting the recovery of abandoned agricultural land, assuming with the subsidized amount part of the justifiable costs of putting these unproductive farms into production.
To access these municipal subsidies, you must be the owner or tenant of agricultural land that has been uncultivated for at least the last three years. According to the mayor, Adolfo gonzalez (PP), “this is how the double objective of recovering land in a situation of abandonment and of opening avenues for a new economic activity to unemployed people is fulfilled”. The objective pursued by the Northern City Council is, in the words of the president, “to encourage abandoned agricultural land to be put back into production, and that, once they are suitable for it, the applicant can access the other line of municipal subsidies of Los Realejos, in this case the one that is delivered in kind, in the form of seeds and fruit trees, to be able to start the cultivation with them”.
This other line of aid in kind makes available to the beneficiaries different varieties of local products for planting, such as bonita and casta potatoes; fruit trees such as avocado, orange, lemon, plum and apple trees, and varieties of cereals such as chin wheat, rye and oats.
