The tourist micro-destinations with the best data are in the South

The Tenerife tourist micro-destinations of Playa Paraíso (Adeje), Playa de El Duque (Adeje) and Golf del Sur (San Miguel de Abona) were, in general terms, the ones with the best performance in their main tourism indicators last year compared to 2019 , pre-pandemic reference year. Overnight stays, travelers staying, hotel income or average occupancy are some of the figures analyzed by the Ashotel Observatory of Tourism Competitiveness and Sustainability, with data from the Tourist Accommodation Survey of the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (Istac).

Regarding overnight stays, of the total of the 17 micro-destinations analyzed in TenerifeGolf del Sur is the one that experienced the highest percentage increase in 2022 compared to 2019, with an increase of 24.77%, going from 1.05 million overnight stays in 2019 to 1.31 million in 2022. Playa Paraíso grew almost 19%, Playa de El Duque 10.5% and Los Gigantes 10.3%. On the contrary, among the 13 micro-destinations that still do not exceed the figures for 2019, those that register the most pronounced percentage drops are Costa del Silencio, in Arona (-75.5%), the historic complex of Puerto de la Cruz (- 35.8%), Callao Salvaje, in Adeje (–32.1%) and El Médano, in Granadilla de Abona (–31.6%).

However, compared to the data for 2021, the 17 micro-destinations analyzed already exceeded these figures in 2022, not only in overnight stays, but also in the main variables analyzed by the Ashotel Observatory.
