The Tenerife tourist micro-destinations of Playa Paraíso (Adeje), Playa de El Duque (Adeje) and Golf del Sur (San Miguel de Abona) were, in general terms, the ones with the best performance in their main tourism indicators last year compared to 2019 , pre-pandemic reference year. Overnight stays, travelers staying, hotel income or average occupancy are some of the figures analyzed by the Ashotel Observatory of Tourism Competitiveness and Sustainability, with data from the Tourist Accommodation Survey of the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (Istac).
Regarding overnight stays, of the total of the 17 micro-destinations analyzed in TenerifeGolf del Sur is the one that experienced the highest percentage increase in 2022 compared to 2019, with an increase of 24.77%, going from 1.05 million overnight stays in 2019 to 1.31 million in 2022. Playa Paraíso grew almost 19%, Playa de El Duque 10.5% and Los Gigantes 10.3%. On the contrary, among the 13 micro-destinations that still do not exceed the figures for 2019, those that register the most pronounced percentage drops are Costa del Silencio, in Arona (-75.5%), the historic complex of Puerto de la Cruz (- 35.8%), Callao Salvaje, in Adeje (–32.1%) and El Médano, in Granadilla de Abona (–31.6%).
However, compared to the data for 2021, the 17 micro-destinations analyzed already exceeded these figures in 2022, not only in overnight stays, but also in the main variables analyzed by the Ashotel Observatory.

Overnight stays, travelers staying, hotel income or average occupancy are some of the figures analyzed in the 17 most relevant tourist destinations in Tenerife
Regarding the travelers staying, the areas with the best percentage behavior were also Golf del Sur, with an increase of 38.5%; Paradise Beach (25.2%); El Duque Beach (15%) and Los Gigantes (10.2%). However, if we take into account the absolute volume data, Las Américas (Arona area) registered the highest number of travelers staying in 2022 of the micro-destinations analyzed in Tenerife, with 916,885, a figure that nevertheless represents a drop of almost –3 % compared to 2019; It is followed by Costa Adeje, with 695,953 travelers staying and a drop of –5.6%. Among the most noticeable percentage drops in the indicator of travelers staying, the data coincides with overnight stays and places the micro-destination of Costa del Silencio with the most pronounced drop (–72%), followed by Callao Salvaje (–35.7%), Torviscas -Fañabé Alto (–25.1%) and the historic complex of Puerto de la Cruz (–24.4%).
In relation to the average occupancy rate, all micro-destinations exceeded 50% in 2022, except Costa del Silencio, whose behavior coincides with other indicators and remained with an average of 22.8%. Among the highest average occupancies last year were Playa Paraíso (88.8%), Playa de El Duque (82.6%) and Golf del Sur (80.3%). The lowest average rates during 2022, in addition to the aforementioned Costa del Silencio, are those of Los Cristianos (55.5%), El Médano (58.2%) as well as the historic complex of Puerto de la Cruz (59 ,3%).
Regarding the total income in the Tenerife micro-destinations, also Playa Paraíso, with an increase of 74.7% compared to 2019; Golf del Sur (37.9%) and Playa de El Duque (27.2%) lead the ranking. These three micro-destinations totaled almost 464 million euros in revenue last year. Among the most notable falls, the same scheme is also repeated: Costa del Silencio (–58.9%), the historic complex of Puerto de la Cruz (–38.6%) and Callao Salvaje (–19.4%) compared to the year baseline pre-pandemic.
