The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Gustavo Matos, continues with his round of work meetings as an invitee to participate in the constituent process of Chile and this Tuesday he held a meeting with the Undersecretary of Tourism, Verónica Pardo, which was attended by the president of the Council of Elders of Easter Island, Carlos Edmunds.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed the challenges of the different tourism models in the archipelagic territories.
Thus, Matos shared the Canarian experience regarding the reactivation of tourist activity and the economy after the pandemic, as well as sustainable development and the preservation of cultural identity, points in which the president of the Rapa Nui Council of Elders expressed interest. .

Easter Island, through its Council of Rapa Nui Elders –political, social, and cultural committee of elders of the Rapa Nui people–, is searching for lines of action that reactivate the tourist activity that the 90% of its economy, after the covid-19 crisis.
