The Fernando Estévez School of Art and Superior Design, located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, opens from this Monday, April 10, the period to request a place in its multiple artistic teachings of Degree, Training Cycles and Baccalaureate of Arts for the school year 2023-2024. Both the application for a place and the information on the entrance exams, fees and other data are already published on the website escueladeartetenerife.com.
The center of Tenerife has become a true regional benchmark for the study of design and plastic arts, offering numerous courses for decades, among which are the Degrees in Graphic Design, Interior Design and Fashion Design, three degrees that are equivalent, for all intents and purposes, to a University Degree and which are taken in four academic years, adding classes directed by a team of specialized professionals with experience in different subjects, and internships in companies in the sector.
The offer is complemented by Higher Education Training Cycles in Animation, Ephemeral Architecture, Artistic Ceramics, Window Dressing, Sculpture Applied to the Show, Clothing Styling, Photography, Advertising Graphics, Illustration, Projects and Direction of Decoration Works, and Sculptural Techniques. As well as the Interactive Graphic Product Assistance, Wall Covering and Chalcographic Engraving Training Cycles, being the only center in the entire national territory that offers the latter. Without forgetting, the Baccalaureate of Arts, especially focused on students from the metropolitan area. In these cases, the duration is two years.
For the Degrees, the period to request a place ends on May 26, while for the Cycles and the Baccalaureate, the pre-registration will end on May 28, both days inclusive. To answer any questions, the email 38006253@canariaseducacion.es has been made available to those interested.
LESSONS IN ILLUSTRATION, ANIMATION AND PHOTOGRAPHY
The fiscal attractions of the Canary Islands for companies dedicated to cinema and animation have also increased interest in Illustration, Photography and Animation studies offered by the Fernando Estévez School of Art and Design. All of them, Higher Level Training Cycles with a duration of two years.
Season after season, the number of applications for these qualifications has increased, both due to the quality of the teaching and the multiple possibilities for finding employment after completing the studies. “The most interesting thing is that the students are going to find practical content, culminating in a project where all the learned theory is applied. In these teachings there are now many outlets, especially in the animation and visual effects sector, which is experiencing a real ‘boom’. In fact, right now there are many companies dedicated to this in the Canary Islands and more and more are coming here precisely because of the attractive tax benefits. There are students who have not finished their Cycles and are already working in the sector”, admits drawing teacher Patricia De Pablos.
EXHIBITION OF THE VOLUME DEPARTMENT
The Fernando Estévez School of Art and Superior Design has experienced this year a veritable explosion of activities and development in the department of volume, made up of the Intermediate Training Cycle for Wall Covering, and the Higher Education Training Cycles for Ceramics, Techniques Sculptural and Sculpture Applied to the Show. In fact, the students of the latter were in charge of creating part of the scenery for the election gala of the queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, inspired by New York.
There have also been multiple interventions that the Mural Cladding students have carried out throughout the course, both inside the school and outside it: from the creation of a mural on the outskirts of the IES Lucas Martín Espino in Icod de Los Vinos, even in the construction of the scenery for plays such as ‘Broken Play’, awarded at the 2022 Lorca Awards and nominated for the MAX.
The examples of contributions of volume students in the development of the island society do not cease, contributing culture and color to all corners of the island. All this, thanks to the good disposition of the students and teachers, and some teachings that are eminently practical.
The Degrees in Graphic, Interior and Fashion Design offered by EASD Fernando Estévez are qualifications that are equivalent, for all intents and purposes, to University Degrees. From there lies the interest that has been increasing course after course.
The Degree in Graphic Design remains one of the most requested degrees among the wide range of possibilities offered by the center of Tenerife. However, more and more are interested in studying Interior and Fashion Design, eminently practical teachings and at the forefront of techniques and technologies.
