SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The cone of the La Palma volcano has reached 1,124 meters in height, as reported by the National Geographic Institute (IGN) when 85 days have passed since the eruption began, which makes it the longest of those that occurred in the island, after exceeding the 84 days that the eruption of the Tehuya volcano lasted, which occurred in 1585.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 24 earthquakes have been located on the island of La Palma, most of them (21) at intermediate depths, between 10 and 15 kilometers, and only 3 at depths between 35 and 42 kilometers. The maximum magnitude recorded is 3.2 (mbLg), corresponding to today’s earthquake at 5:21 am, at a depth of 36 kilometers. The amplitude of the tremor signal is kept at low levels.
In view of the image calibrated at 08.39 hours, an ash cloud height of 1,400 masl is estimated. with a west-southwest direction. The height of the cone has also been measured, obtaining a value of 1,124 meters above sea level, which is 1 meter more than the data obtained in the last measurement.
