The Council of Tenerife and the town halls have begun to execute the III Plan of Employment Municipal, which contemplates the hiring this year of 551 unemployed people throughout the Island and a global investment of 9.4 million euros, 86 percent financed by the Island Corporation.
Half of the town halls have begun to impart the previous training with which the participants are helped to improve their personal and professional skills in relation to the activities they are going to carry out and to which 10% of the total budget is allocated.
Furthermore, in seven municipalities –Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Arafo, Icod de Los Vinos, Los Silos, El Tanque and Candelaria– it is expected to execute the first contracts under the employment plan at the end of this month of March or beginning of April. At the local level, most of the planned plans have the objectives of promoting equality between women and men, diversifying the local productive structure, promoting sustainable development at the local level, enhancing the natural and cultural heritage and reinforcing social services.
Of the total of 551 contracts planned throughout the Island, 339 are intended for qualified personnel, 176 for unqualified personnel and 36 for plan support and coordination personnel. The average duration of employment contracts financed under this plan is 9 months. The list of qualified personnel is very diverse and includes around twenty profiles, including home help assistant, job counselor, social integrator, psychologist, social educator, local facilitator, lawyer and architect, among others.
With regard to jobs that do not require qualification, the main demands of the municipalities They focus on gardening, construction and cleaning laborers, who represent 60% of the contracts, in addition to masonry officer, accompanying caretaker or environmental, forestry and agricultural laborers.
Financed by the Development Fund of Canary Islands (Fdcan), the Municipal Employment Plan reserves 50% of the contracts for young people up to 30 years of age without previous employment or who have been unemployed for more than a year. Priority is also given to hiring women and the long-term unemployed. Martín details the impulse that is given with the municipal plans to the quality jobs: “Six out of four jobs created with these plans are for qualified personnel. In addition, 87% of the budget of the plans is invested in new hires.
The Minister of Employment and Socioeconomic Development, Carmen Luz Baso, emphasizes that “it is an innovative employment plan that provides comprehensive support to unemployed people, so that, in addition to favoring their hiring, it important training and prospecting work so that, once the project ends, they can re-enter the labor market”.
