SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 17 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo de La Palma, Raúl Camacho, has criticized the “little empathy” that the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla, has with the situation that the Island is experiencing at the moment and has added that his “abandonment” to the palm sector and institutions is “inadmissible.”
This has been stated by Raúl Camacho in a press release in which he has indicated that he has once again requested a meeting between the two administrations from the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, after he requested it last November and reiterated it last January, “without obtaining any response”.
Raúl Camacho explained that this meeting “is of vital importance to plan the items of the Renace Plan that were not executed in the previous year and that have been reactivated for virtual debit cards to promote trips to the Island, investment announced for the recovery and rehabilitation of tourist infrastructures or the item to subsidize the seats of national and international flights to La Palma”.
In addition, he wanted to recall that this plan, whose investments the regional government has to manage, “had important items for the insular sector and that by not executing part of it during the year 2022, it even put the winter season at stake “, he assured.
On the other hand, the counselor has indicated that since the volcano erupted last September 2021, “relations between the two institutions have always been fluid, except with the counselor Castilla, who we do not understand what has happened so that she has this negligence with everyone matters that have to do with the Isla Bonita,” he lamented.
Faced with this situation, Camacho has asked Yaiza Castilla “to work hand in hand with the sector to be able to provide a quick and effective response to the key needs for the insular economy, as well as for its recovery, and which is also the support of the economy of many families from La Palma”.
