SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 16 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government Council of the Canary Islands has approved this Thursday the decree by which the charity association NGO Ser Humano is declared of public interest in the Canary Islands, on the understanding that its statutory purposes tend to promote the general interest of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands and for the benefit that for the society of the islands brings its activity.
Registered, since 2007, in the Registry of Associations of the Canary Islands, NGO Ser Humano has an autonomous scope of action, currently has 60 members, 18 employees and 300 volunteers, and benefits 275,000 people directly and 500,000 indirectly.
Among its social purposes is to provide comprehensive assistance to those groups, families and individuals who are in a situation of social exclusion or at risk of suffering it, promoting the creation of support networks and social fabric based on their social or cultural characteristics.
In addition, NGO Ser Humano provides comprehensive care for minors, as well as social and labor insertion, and the comprehensive development of minors, through projects that work on the life plan, and comprehensive care -psychological, social and community- to people who are in a situation of illness, disability and dependency, or who do not have a home.
It also has among its social purposes to generate the social reintegration of those people who are in measures of deprivation of liberty, promote their continuing professional training and promote support and comprehensive care for older people by promoting active and accompanied old age.
To these must be added the generation of a collective ethic that defends human rights, international cooperation, humanitarian awareness, the eradication of hunger and fair trade, and the development of research projects in areas related to the association.
The NGO Ser Humano charity association also seeks to promote care for the environment and the fight for climate change, and promote equal treatment and opportunities between women and men, the promotion of women, prevention or intervention regarding discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identities. And it carries out programs and projects aimed at preventing youth problems such as gender violence, delinquency, intrafamily violence, violence between peers or any other conflict or criminal situation that is found.
Today it has three offices, two of them in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and one in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as well as warehouses, vehicles and other furniture and equipment.
