Who is Rosaura?
She is a 45-year-old girl, mother of two children and very eager to enjoy the Carnival.
How does she decide to present herself now as a candidate for queen?
Until now I had not had the taste and pleasure of having participated but my designer, the firm Creaciones de la Rosa, chose me; He spent a year trying to convince me to be his candidate at the Santa Cruz gala and thanks to my daughter Aroa, the eldest. She told me: you tell us daily, both to Besay and to me, that dreams must be followed, and this is yours. And at that moment I had nothing left but to say nothing but yes.

How old are your children?
Eleven years and six.
What a way of reasoning your eldest daughter has!
Yes, the truth is that they are both quite mature for their age and I am proud of them. I am fulfilling this dream that is going to come true, because I already feel like a winner for being here and being able to participate. I am satisfied, happy… you don’t know the emotion that runs through my veins, with lifelong carnival blood.
Have you been linked to Carnival groups?
Yes, I’ve been to different murgas. I am from the municipality of Los Realejos, where they are from trespassers.
He is then first prize for Interpretation of murgas. Congratulations.
Yes, I’m really proud. I had the honor of being at the awards ceremony on the day of the final, although I gave it to crazy devils, both the third Presentation and the second Interpretation. I almost had to give it to Trapaseros, but the pride is the same because Diablos Locos is an excellent murga. It was a beautiful, spectacular day and we won the prize for the municipality of Los Realejos.
In which murgas did you participate in Los Realejos?
We founded the murga Las Picaronas, with which I dated for two years; then my daughter Aroa was born and I couldn’t continue, and then they asked me the favor of belonging to Las Bellacas, in Puerto de la Cruz, where Fito Sosa, then a member of Diablos Locos, was our musical director. We also had a lot of help from Trapaseros, Ironicos, Archicuerpos…
And how did you meet its director, the Creaciones de la Rosa brand?
I have been a gala presenter and I needed a dress; I spoke with Regina Monasterio and she referred me to this designer, who is from my municipality. So I contacted him and he made me a suit for a presentation at a Los Silos festival. As a result, when my daughter Airoa made her first communion, I contacted him to make her a suit. When she saw the girl, the first thing she proposed was if she wanted to be her candidate to present her at the children’s queen gala of Los Realejos; and that was before anything. I would point out to my daughter that no and she that yes, yes. And well… she is currently our child queen of Los Realejos, because she was elected last year. She is still reigning. My surprise was that the designer had not only fallen in love with the girl but also with her mother, because she proposed to be her candidate for Santa Cruz. When he told me, I couldn’t believe it, with my 45 years. .
What do you do for a living?
My profession is a hotel housekeeper and I was working as a cashier in a shopping center in La Orotava.
How do you combine being the mother of two children and a candidate for carnival queen?
I live in a run, run, but I can face both because I organize myself; can. The key is to have the illusion, that is key for everything to go ahead.
And beyond your children, what has the family told you?
I have had the support of the father of my children, who gives me his one thousand percent support, and tells me that he is very happy and also encourages me because he tells me why not to achieve it and enjoy the experience. I expected to have this experience when I was 28 or 30 years old… but there are moments and this is mine. I am going to live the experience with great enthusiasm.
Being queen of Carnival has no age.
Being queen of Carnival has no limitations, in fact we have more partners with children. The vast majority actually have children. It is never too late and you cannot say that you cannot get to live the experience. Of the fifteen candidates, six or seven are mothers. Being a mom cannot prevent you from fulfilling the dream of being queen of the Carnival.
Do you participate in the elaboration of the costume of your fantasy?
Yes, I am participating in the elaboration in the workshop. I have also been going to the gym to be prepared.
Do you think your suit will cause admiration from the public?
All the suits are winners because the level is very high; When the day of the gala arrives, it will be when the different proposals of the designers are seen and it will be up to the members of the jury to issue the ruling.
What is more important: the suit or the candidate?
The designer’s work is what is valued at a gala and how you defend it; It’s not a beauty festival.
