The National Geographic Institute (IGN) located on the evening of this Monday in an interval of two hours a series of eleven earthquakes in the area of the Tenerife municipality of Arico.
Specifically, the seismic series it occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 11:20 p.m., at a depth between 3 and 6 kilometers and with magnitudes (mbLg) between 0.0 and 1.0.
None of these earthquakes has been felt by the populationpoints out the IGN, which points out that although in that area of Tenerife no grouped events have been recorded in recent years, this type of activity “is to be expected” on active volcanic islands.
This seismic series, the IGN abounds, “does not mean a priori nno change in the state of volcanic activity of the island due to the low number of events and its small size”.
