Friends, family and neighbors of the little saulthe minor under 15 years of age who died in a scooter accident in the Santa María neighborhoodin Santa Cruz de Tenerife, yesterday they painted a emotional mural with which they try to keep him in the memory as well as to make the youngest aware of the dangers of the road. Under the direction of the artists Víctor Seus and Attograph Amsterdam, the last 24 hours on Tano street, where the incident occurred, have been a movement of people, colors and feelings.
Lolo Dorta, from the Santa María 3 Barrios Association, says that the decision of The fact that the mural was done yesterday, December 29, responds to the fact that it was the day Saúl would have turned 16. For this reason, at night, when the mural was finished, those gathered there decided to sing “happy birthday” and send a message to heaven.
The union of Santa María regarding what happened with Saúl has been total. The commotion in the neighborhood has made them support each other to take the plenary session of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife the problem of scooters, to collect signatures with which they ask to name the child on the street or, in the latter case, to create a mural as a tribute to him.
Although the work was completed yesterday, the preparation of the wall was done last week: the neighbors whitewashed the wall and painted it white. To buy the materials for the mural they carried out a collection and the two plastic artists collaborated altruistically. In addition, the singer also attended Keta Kbb Labelwho is recording a video clip about what happened.
Today, with the first light of day, the mural to Saul looked radiant. On one part of the wall you can see his face and, on the other, a sentence: “Saúl. My life is two wheels”.
FIRST FATAL SCOOTER ACCIDENT
The scooter accident that occurred on December 11, which led to the death of the minor days later, is the the first in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in which a vehicle of this type is involved that results in a fatality.
In this sense, Dorta confirms that what happened reopens the debate on the need to increase road safety and of more intensively regulate the use of a vehicle such as an electric scooter. Although in recent weeks there have been some progressfrom the Neighborhood Association in which it participates, they assure that they will be “vigilant”.
