SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Manuel Afonso Salazar has been appointed as the new territorial director of CaixaBank in the Canary Islands, replacing Juan Ramón Fuertes, who will leave the entity on January 1, 2023 after more than 40 years holding various positions of responsibility at the bank.
As the new top manager, Afonso will manage the business of the bank’s more than 220 branches spread across the eight islands, which serve more than one million customers, with assets under management of more than 12,300 million euros and a market share of 50% in individuals and 54% in companies.
Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Manuel Afonso already held the position of territorial director in 2017, while Fuertes was the executive director of the BPI bank in Portugal, during its integration process into CaixaBank.
Until now commercial director of Red in the Canary Islands is also an experienced director of CaixaBank, an entity he joined in 1996. He has also held positions of responsibility in the field of commercial management of Companies and Transactional Banking, management of Areas of Business, as well as office, includes a note from the entity.
Juan Ramón Fuertes joined CaixaBank in 1981 and during his professional career at the entity he has held various management positions such as general delegate, executive director (in the Balearic Islands, in Retail, Marketing and Quality and in the BPI project), territorial director in Balearic Islands and territorial director in the Canary Islands from 2015 to the present.
