Canary Coalition claims 7 million euros more for the Motor Circuit

Canarian Coalition asks for an additional 7.2 million euros to promote the works of the Circuito del Engine in the Cabildo budgets for 2023. Carlos Alonso, nationalist spokesman, values: “We already warned in May that the PSOE would not execute a single euro of the 5.1 million and time has proved us right.” For her part, the counselor Verónica Meseguer demands the convening of the Circuit monitoring table and criticizes that “the only expense they have made is the electoral act in the Auditorium.” This took place last July with the presence of the Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz and, according to CC, with the disbursement of about 600,000 euros.

«The Motor Circuit is an important investment for the Canary Islands Coalition». This is assured by the nationalist formation that considers it necessary to “comply with a historical demand of the motor sector for Tenerife and, at the same time, contribute economic development and job to the island”.

The spokesman for the Canarian Coalition in the Cabildo, Carlos Alonso, explains the current situation of the infrastructure: «In the 2023 budget there was only an initial item of 173,000 euros. When we denounced it, PSOE and Ciudadanos presented an amendment to provide the infrastructure with 5.4 million euros.

Alonso adds: “They seem insufficient to us and for this reason we request an additional 7.2 million euros for next year’s budget and promote the work.” In addition, CC presents an amendment with the multi-year expense in which it details the items to be assigned each year so that the works are completed by 2025.

The nationalist spokesman is forceful when judging the work of the government group: «In May we approved the 5.1 million euros, but we already warned that they were not going to execute a single one. Time has proved us right and the reality is that they have not invested anything. These are not opinions, they are objective facts. He assures that “what you have to do is build it and manage it well.”

The amendment presented by CC-PNC for the 2023 budget provides for a contribution of 12.4 million euros in 2023; 23.4 million in 2024; and 12.9 in 2025 until reaching 48.8 million.

Neither works nor information

The nationalist counselor, Verónica Meseguer, demanded in plenary session last Monday (day 5) the call for the monitoring table of the Motor Circuit.

Meseguer points out that “in May we approved a motion to create the monitoring table of the Motor Circuit in which all political groups and the Automobile and Motorcycle Racing Federations, as well as the Real Automóvil Club de Tenerife (RACT) must be represented”.

Meseguer emphasizes that “the groups ask us about the situation because there is tremendous obscurantism.” He considers that «PSOE and Ciudadanos do not want to summon it because they know that we will make their faces red because they have not done anything. There are neither works nor information. The only expense of the Motor Circuit was the electoral act of the Auditorium ».

Meseguer recalls to conclude that the only jobs that have been done since 2019 “are from the previous mandate. The works of the northern access and the international approvals have already been tendered and commissioned before July 2019. It is as easy as going to the newspaper library and checking it”.

“There are 218 million unexecuted”

CC-PNC denounces that “there are 218 million euros in unexecuted investments.” The level of execution as of October 31 was 24.8% of the total 290 million and in Social Action “there are almost 17 unused with more than 7,000 people waiting for a socio-sanitary place.” In addition, Sustainable Development and the Fight Against Climate Change “has only spent 267,000 euros out of 17.9 million.” The nationalists attribute it to “the lack of management of the PSOE.” Its spokesman, Carlos Alonso, points out that the Treasury report “is alarming. Of every four euros they have only used one. He values that “the level of execution is even lower than last year.” In Municipal Cooperation and Housing “3.8 million of 28.5 have been executed.” And in the Presidency, Finance and Modernization of 15.5, 1.1 (7.53%) have been invested in ten months. | JDM
