Almost two million for the sanitation network of Geranio street, in Los Gigantes

At 1,975,337 euros the cost of the sanitation and rainwater network of Geranio street, in The Giants. Municipal Cooperation and Housing of the Cabildo will contribute 1,577,295 euros (80%) and the City Council of Santiago del Teide, the remaining 398,042 euros (20%). The term of execution of the works is 22 months.

The Councilor for Municipal Cooperation, Zebenzui Chinea, highlights the importance of this project, “a work of special relevance that will provide the network with the necessary capacity to guarantee its proper functioning, with the improvement that this entails for the general sanitation system in the area.” ensures that the intervention will correct the deficiencies detectedwill provide this area with modern infrastructures and services, “in conditions of quality and sustainability”, which will improve the image and contribute to its revaluation.

Emilio Navarro, mayor of Santiago del Teide, places this work in “the process of improving municipal sanitation that we continue to carry out.” Aware of the increase in housing units in the area, “we have been farsighted and, with the support and collaboration of the Cabildo, we are going to maximize the network of Geranio street. Also, we will continue to improve our public space».

Within the framework of collaboration between administrations, the Island Government Council attributed the works to the City Council, which will be in charge of managing and executing the works, including asphalting and public lighting works.

The work includes the renewal of the supply network, public lighting and the resurfacing

Chinea explains that the project is part of the support provided by the Cabildo to municipal corporations “to help them promote the process of renovation of sanitation infrastructures.” In line with what was expressed by the mayor, Chinea emphasizes that “this type of action entails a considerable improvement in the environment, by contemplating paving, sidewalk work and the placement of lights, among other services, for the benefit of residents and visitors”. .

An example of the work plan

The counselor details that this project “is an example of the comprehensive interventions that we are promoting in the municipalities.” Among the works planned for Geranio de Los Gigantes street is the installation of a sewage collector along the road, which will connect to a well on José González Forte street. In addition, a rainwater network will be installed. The improvement of the supply network is also contemplated, to which the household connections will be connected, with the replacement of the existing pipes being planned, as well as the placement of luminaires and resurfacing works.

Zebenzuí Chinea defends that the project will be enriched with the replacement of horizontal signage and with the installation of tactile paving and directional indicators in the pedestrian crossing areas, thus complying with current accessibility standards, the island councilor adds.
