Yesterday the Walk for Life foundation presented details of this year’s walk to the press, the first time people will actually get together on the streets of Adeje and Arona since before the pandemic. From 11am on December 11th at Siam Mall they are hoping that thousands will join them to bring this pink wave together again, under the banner, ‘TOGETHER FOREVER’, helping women and men with cancer, and their families.

At the event yesterday the foundation president Brigitte Gypen thanks all those involved, saying their commitment to the event and the cause was vitally important, in particular the involvement of Adeje and Arona councils in supporting the organisation of the event, as well as the many many institutions and businesses who were behind various aspects of the walk, making it possible, allowing everyone to get together to walk and raise those all-important funds.

Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga said that the day of the walk was always “a very special day for us, a solidarity event during which we also are pressing for the best possible treatments to be made available for breast cancer, as we come together to demonstrate, in a big way, our support and help for those with breast cancer.

Arona mayor José Julián Mena invited everyone to take part in “an event which has become a reference point for the Canarias”, raising social awareness about early detection and the prevention of breast cancer.

This year the Walk for Life also brings together representatives from the Think Pink Europe association, who work across the continent in the fight against breast cancer. Since 2019 the Walk for Life foundation has been the official Spanish representative in the Think Pink organisation.

With the support of the Tenerife Cabildo and the Adeje and Arona councils, from December 9th to 11th representatives of 22 European countries will be in Tenerife for the annual Think Pink Europe assembly.

The Marshalls for this year’s walk for life are the UD Granadilla Women’s football team, who have shown examples of dedication and discipline to their sport, to improving the participation of women in sport, and collaborating in promoting the Walk for Life. Congratulations!
