SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The PSOE would win the regional elections in the Canary Islands again with 31.5% of the votes and a range of between 27 and 30 seats, compared to the 25 it obtained in the 2019 elections, according to the Sociobarometer prepared by the UNED at the request of of the Government of the Canary Islands collected by Europa Press.
The study has been prepared from 3,201 telephone interviews carried out in October and also points out that the Canary Islands Coalition (CC) and the Popular Party (PP) would compete for second position with 18.5% of support.
The nationalist formation loses support and would go from the current 20 seats to 18-20 while the PP would rise from 11 to 14-16.
Nueva Canarias (NC) would be another of the formations that would benefit from an increase in the estimated vote to 11.4%, which would translate between 5 and 7 seats –it obtained five in 2019– while the Agrupación Socialista Gomera (ASG) it remains stable with 0.7% of support and three deputies.
The other formation that makes up the ‘Pact of Flowers’, Sí Podemos, would fall from 8.9% to 7.3% in vote estimation and would go from four seats to two.
The sociobarometer confirms the disappearance of Ciudadanos (Cs), which would lose the two regional deputies and plummets from 7.5% in voting intention to 2% while VOX, although it improves results, goes from 2.5% to 3, 7% in intention to vote, would not enter the regional Chamber.
Regarding political leaders, the President of the Government and Secretary General of the Canarian PSOE, Ángel Víctor Torres, is the best valued with 5.2 points –the same note as in June–, followed by Manuel Domínguez, president of the PP (4.7), which improves by 0.5 points, and Fernando Clavijo, general secretary of CC, who reaches 4.6 (+0.4).
Román Rodríguez, Vice President of the Government and candidate for the Presidency for NC, reaches 4.2 points (+0.1), Noemí Santana, Minister of Social Rights of the Government and candidate for the Presidency for Podemos, adds 4.1 points and Casimiro Curbelo , ASG spokesperson, stays at 4.
Torres is also the best-known candidate on the islands with 96.3%, followed by Clavijo (84.9%), Román Rodríguez (80.5%), Casimiro Curbelo (62.4%), Manuel Domínguez (61, 7%) and Noemí Santana (59.4%).
43.9% of those surveyed consider that the Government does it in general ‘well’ -1.7 points less than in the wave of June–, 28.7% very badly and 26.2% regular.
Unemployment is confirmed as the main concern of the Canaries, with 45.4% of those surveyed, followed by the economic crisis (31.2%), health (27.3%) and poverty (20.9% ).
