SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 8 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Autonomous Museums Organization (OAMC), presented this Tuesday the exhibition ‘Connected to the future: the Energy Transition’, which will be exhibited until March at the Museum of Science and the Cosmos of La Lagoon.
This interactive and digital exhibition by Redeia, the parent company of Red Eléctrica de España, is designed to promote knowledge about the energy transition and the role that consumers have in it.
The island councilor for Museums, Concepción Rivero, presented the details of the exhibition, together with the general director of Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands, Rosana Melián, the director of the Museum of Science and the Cosmos, Héctor Socas, the insular director of Innovation , Aránzazu Artal, and the regional delegate of the Canary Islands of Redeia, Ainara Irigoyen.
Concepción Rivero hopes that “the interactive nature of this exhibition will attract a wide and varied public, in order to convey the risks of the climate emergency and the possible actions to mitigate it”, and stressed that “it comes to Tenerife after its success at the Elder Museum de la Ciencia in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria where around 30,000 people visited and made positive reviews”.
For this reason, he said, “we are sure that it will be a complete success”, while he took the opportunity to invite the general public to enjoy this exhibition.
The General Director of Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands, Rosana Melián, explained that the exhibition is linked to all the policies that the regional government has in terms of energy transition, among which is the commitment to new energies, the deployment of renewable or the creation of a model based on energy efficiency, “all of them aspects that can be seen in the different modules of the route”.
The director of the Museum of Science and the Cosmos, Héctor Socas, assured that “science and technology are providing the necessary tools to deal with climate change and reduce its negative impact, but it is necessary to inform society of these advances in order to that they can implement them in their day to day and that the effort is collective”.
Socas added that this is where the importance of this exhibition lies, in its informative nature.
The regional delegate of the Canary Islands of Redeia, Ainara Irigoyen, stressed the importance of the energy transition, “especially for island systems such as the Canary Islands in which renewable energies are the greatest guarantee of future and autonomy”.
For this reason, he stressed that “it is essential” that businesses and companies, such as Redeia, play a prominent role in involving society in this transformation process.
VIRTUAL ESCAPE ROOM
The exhibition, which combines an analogical and digital approach, is made up of different phases in which the visitor, in an educational and fun way, assumes a leading role through tests, games, experiments and even the resolution of an ‘escape room’ virtual.
In this way, attendees can enjoy a total immersion in the world of energy and telecommunications.
In addition, it has a triple objective: to make visitors aware of the effects of the climate emergency; explain the challenges of the energy transition and the sustainability commitments of the 2030 Agenda and convey the active role that consumers will play in the future, collects a note from the Cabildo.
To ensure that the visitor is the protagonist of the exhibition, upon arrival they will receive a QR code that will serve as a key to unlock the different contents along the route that has different modules.
Each one of them presents a different theme, among which is an explanation of the operation of the electrical system, an immersion in the world of energy and telecommunications, an analysis of the challenges involved in the energy transition and a compilation of the commitments that society must acquire to contribute to improving the future.
In addition, to enhance visitor participation, a virtual ‘escape room’ has been developed in the form of an online adventure game, an activity full of unknowns related to the content of each section in which players become aware of the important role they play on the path to sustainability.
