The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, the mayor of the Southwest, Javier Rivero, and the insular director of Territory Planning, Emilio Fariña, presented the Santa Catalina inclusive children’s park project to the residents last week, “which we hope which will be completed over the next year and where an investment of close to one million euros will be made, both in the game modules, of excellent quality for an installation of these characteristics, and in the adaptation of the green areas of the entire surface of the park.
“The technical project has already been drafted and approved by the city council, and has been in the hands of the Cabildo since July -the mayor advanced-, and I hope that, if everything goes well, by the month of March we would already have the contract executing the work of this playground, which will be the largest in the entire municipality, even larger than La Gesta, and is projected and designed to be totally inclusive”.
For his part, Rivero explained that “we are going to use the central part to dedicate some 4,000 square meters that will make the area fully accessible, since it does not have relevant slopes and can be accessed perfectly from the street” and made it clear that “all this The space will be divided into what we have called bubbles, which represent different levels of difficulty, without independent modules for disability, but rather everyone can play in an inclusive way”.
Fariña wanted to emphasize that “we will try to ensure that the time for the execution of this project in La Gallega, financed by the Cabildo through the DUSI Strategy for the Metropolitan area, is as fast as possible, according to the proposed deadlines.”
