Pedro Martín, convinced that the Canary Islands will have a 50% subsidy for buses and trams in 2023

The president of Council of TenerifePedro Martín, has been convinced this Wednesday that the 50% subsidy for bus and tram transportation in Canary Islands for 2023 it will be fixed despite the fact that this item does not appear in the draft of the General State Budgets.

Martín has pointed out that “some” believe that the limitation affects only the Canary Islands and is “in all of Spain” but in any case he believes that the arrangement “will be made” for continue to enjoy the bonus throughout 2023.

However, he stressed that the Cabildo maintains the “commitment” of raise the transport subsidy with own funds up to 34% if finally the central government did not cover it so that citizens continue to maintain “low prices” at this time of energy “crisis”.

The Minister of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, Sebastián Franquis, already requested this Tuesday afternoon that the 50% discount be extended for the next year, 20% more than in the Peninsula.

In this way, the Ministry will send a new letter to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda these days reminding that the special treatment given to the Canary Islands extending to 2023 the discount of the 50% bus and tram passessince, lacking trains, these means of transport are considered an essential service for the islands.
