The rain which is falling on this sunday morning in Canary Islands by tropical depression ermine has caused power outages in different parts of the Archipelago and has forced to the closure of roads in several islandswhich is why 112 Canaria has recalled the request to avoid travel while the maximum alert lasts.
So far this Sunday, there have been power cuts in the municipality of Telde and in the Tenerife municipalities of La Laguna -on the Camino La Villa and El Coromoto-, and Tacoronte, in Tenerifeaccording to the information consulted by this newspaper.
ANDhe Road Service of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria has reported this Sunday that there have been different rockfalls on the GC-75, GC-220, GC-200 (between Agaete and El Risco) or GC-210 (in sections de Tejeda-Artenara and Cruce de Artenara-La Aldea).
In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Local Police have explained that they have had to close the San José Tunnel (southbound) to traffic due to the accumulation of water in the lanes, although for the moment it does not affect the entrance to the San Cristóbal neighborhood .
The access road to Confital has been closed to both vehicles and people due to the displacement of stones and the damage caused by low water.
The Carretera del Dragonal (GC-310) has also been closed at the height of the Jardín Canario due to the partial subsidence of the asphalt when a sewer broke due to the amount of water.
In the same way, there are problems in the Paseo de Chil, with the descent of the water through the walls that produces the usual image of small waterfalls that accumulate in the different lanes.
Roadblocks and incidents in Tenerife
Regarding the state of the roads, the Cabildo de Tenerife has closed to traffic the TF-31 (access to Puerto de La Cruz) due to the drop in water at the exit of the cut-and-cover tunnel.
Specifically, the Island Corporation has pointed out that, in this case, from 04:00 a.m. the road was cut off and that, due to the intermittent rainfall, the closure is maintained for safety.
Also, The Local Police of Santa Cruz has announced that vehicle access to lane 0 of Las Teresitas beach has been closed –the closest to the coast– and the final section of the road from the health post. In addition, a large stone has been removed from the road that leads to Valle Crispín.
Throughout the night, the operators of the Highway Maintenance Service have worked on the small landslides that have been registered in some points of the Anaga roads.
Here, the Cabildo de Tenerife has clarified that cleaning and securing work continues in some of them so that this fall of loose rocks affects traffic as little as possible.
In the southern area there has been a small landslide on the TF-21 in the municipality of Vilaflor and on the Las Galletas road there is a puddle due to overflow, both cases being attended by the operators.
The road to El Rejo, in La Gomera, remains closed
Meanwhile, in La Gomera, the Island Corporation has recalled that The El Rejo highway remains closed, from the intersection with the GM-1 and the access to El Cedro.
During the last few hours there were low-level incidents at CV-17 (between Igualero and Chipude), CV-2 (in La Lomada) and CV-12 (between Pavón and La Dama Cemetery).
There were also incidents on the GM-1 in different sections such as Cuesta Los Paredones, Valle Gran Rey, from El Molinito to the Aguajilva or Las Carboneras tunnels.
