La Laguna declares an emergency to repair the street in which a sinkhole was opened this Monday due to the rains

The City Council of La Laguna has declared the repair works of Santa Gemma Galgani and Santa Eulalia streets, in the neighborhood of La Candelaria, to be an emergency, after the collapse of the road that occurred on Monday afternoon, caused by a strong waterspout.

The Local Government Board, meeting today as a matter of urgency, has made this decision due to the need to repair as soon as possible the damage caused to the pavement of both streets and the danger it poses to safety. Although the hole in the road occurred on Santa Gemma Galgani street, this morning Local Police officers proceeded to cut the first section of the adjoining Santa Eulalia street, as a preventive measure.

Technicians from the Department of Works and Infrastructure have been in the area all morning to supervise the actions, as well as those responsible for the Teidagua company. Likewise, a technical team from the Planning Department carried out a first ocular inspection yesterday in the adjoining building, in which no structural damage was found. Tomorrow, Wednesday, an inspection by the technicians of the Insular Council of Waters of Tenerife is also scheduled.
