The many fresh products of the land, especially lhe fish, will star in the position of the Cabildo de Tenerife in the 7th Gastronomic Hall of the Canary Islands Gastrocanarias, which will be held at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Fairgrounds from the 27th to the 29th of this month. In this way, the Island Corporation wants to promote local fishery products and the importance of this craft activity for the island’s economy.
There will also be space for other fundamental products from the Tenerife countryside such as wine, potatoes, extra virgin olive oil, fresh meat, cheese, avocado, gofio or honey. The activity program of the Cabildo post includes 14 talks and culinary demonstrations on local products, 11 workshops and a wine tunnel, in addition to tastings of fish products and the III Tenerife Wine Taster Contest.
Javier Parrilla highlights the importance of recovering this “great gastronomic event”, after it had to be postponed in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the pandemic, and recalls that “in this edition the number of installed spaces is exceeded and also the number of championships of cuisine and beverages, which is a magnificent opportunity for citizens and professionals in the sector to value the high quality of our products and learn about their many culinary possibilities”.
Regarding the program of workshops, topics such as innovation in restaurants, professional fishing in Tenerife, aquaculture fish, pelagic fish and old fish, and chocolate and tropical fruits will be addressed.
217 positions and 79 companies
In the 17,000 square meters that will make up this show, the presence of 217 stalls and 79 companies in the sector is planned. This year, in addition, La Palma will be the guest island, which will allow the attending public to learn more about the typical products, the emblematic recipes and the professionals of the Isla Bonita. The regional vocation of this fair is once again present: for the third time in a row it will feature the participation of each of the seven islands with their own exhibitors promoted by their respective island councils.
Two large stages will be set up at the event, one sponsored by the Cabildo de Tenerife, in which the cooking competitions will take place, and another by the firm Heineken, which will host the drinks competitions and the pizza championship, as well as cooking workshops, master classes, culinary demonstrations, product tastings and commented tastings. During the course of the 7th Gastronomic Hall, 11 major championships will be held, six in the cooking modality and five in drinks, in which representatives from all the islands will participate.
The seventh edition of the Gastronomic Hall of the Canary Islands-GastroCanarias 2022 is promoted and organized jointly by the Institución Ferial de Tenerife and the company Interideas, through its platform GastroCanarias, and has the institutional sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government and the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
