SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Sep. 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife and the City Council of Guía de Isora collaborate in the development of the ‘Guía Sustainable Development’ project, which will facilitate the hiring of 37 unemployed people from the municipality for a year in different economic sectors to carry out actions related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The councilor of the area, Carmen Luz Baso, and the mayor of Isora, Josefa Mesa, held a meeting this week with the participants in this project, which has an investment of 720,691 euros, of which 30% is provided by the Cabildo and the rest by the City Council, to carry out services of general and social interest in the Isorano municipality in a sustainable manner.
Carmen Luz Baso recalls in a note that this initiative is part of the employment plan that the Cabildo de Tenerife has developed with the 31 municipalities of Tenerife and of which a third edition was approved last August, for an initial amount of 8 .3 million euros, with which new contracts will be promoted throughout the island.
Baso highlights “the good reception that this plan is having, with which not only a contract is offered to unemployed people, but also a task of monitoring, training and prospecting is carried out so that they can rejoin the labor market, once your contract period ends.
For her part, the mayor of Isora, Josefa Mesa, explains that with each employment agreement she tries to reach different sectors of the population each time and solve the existing problem.
For this reason, “the City Council allocates such a large amount of money and a whole series of resources so that people have opportunities to train, continue improving and find employment, while improving the services offered to citizens”.
Specifically, the Guide plan will promote the hiring, for a period of twelve months, of a total of 26 qualified people in the following professional categories: 2 building engineering; 1 agricultural engineering; 2 communication and advertising; 2 tourism; 3 administration; 2 right; 4 socio-cultural revitalization; 1 social education; 3 psychology pedagogy; 3 social jobs and 3 social integration.
NATURAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE
The hiring of 11 people without professional qualifications is also contemplated, specifically 5 peons cleaning premises and 6 street cleaning.
Among the objectives of the program ‘Sustainable Development Guide’ is the enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage of the municipality, the development of educational campaigns for sustainability, the efficient use of ICT, the improvement of the urban environment and natural environment, management of waste and improvement of social welfare services.
The island manager highlights that in the selection to fill the jobs planned for these actions, unemployed Isorana women will be considered as a priority group, to continue promoting equal opportunities between men and women.
The beneficiaries of the project will receive transversal complementary training, both in soft skills and in the areas related to the activity for which they are going to be hired.
