The town of La Guancha once again lived a day full of color and tradition in the XXII Bajada de Las Hayas. Around 7:00 p.m. last Saturday, the traditional Bajada departed from the El Farrobo neighborhood, presided over by the banner of the Virgen de La Esperanza –as tradition dictates–, carried by the young candidates for queen. The La Guanchería Cultural Association and the municipal authorities completed the start of the Bajada, which was followed by numerous parties and hundreds of participants in this custom.

After two years with the impossibility of holding mass events due to the pandemic, some 2,500 people – not only residents but also participants – arriving from different corners of the Island, returned all the splendor of previous editions to this “particular pilgrimage”.

As usual, the image of the patron saint was waiting at the gates of the main temple. One more year, the offerings of couplets and fruits of the land, from all the participating groups, put an end to the Bajada. The night continued until well into the morning with a great dance of magicians, enlivened by the Malibú Band and Dorada Band orchestras.
