SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 15 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has indicated this Monday that it will be the “scientific, objective and pertinent” reports that will decide the location of the National Volcanological Center in the archipelago.
In any case, Torres has pointed out in statements to journalists that the National Volcanological Center “will be in the Canary Islands and the Canary Islands, which are eight islands, is only one”, for which he has considered that the canaries “have to be happy”.
He has also stressed that he is “very happy” that in recent years the Canary Islands have made proposals that have allowed it to have the National Center for Volcanology, as well as possibly being the European Tourism Agency or that it aspires to have the Agency Aerospace.
TORRES ACCOMPANIES SÁNCHEZ ON HIS VISIT TO LA PALMA
On the other hand, the Canarian president has made “bolillo lace” to be able to be this Tuesday, August 16, with the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, on the island of La Palma to go see the road works of Tazacorte, requested by the regional Executive and in which the resources are provided by the central government.
They will also visit the Cabildo de La Palma, where he explained that they will be with all the institutions and measures will be put on the table to face what has been a “tremendous drama of a natural phenomenon that La Palma has suffered and continues to suffer.”
“What we can do is rise to the occasion, divide any political separation, eliminate it and work together for the island,” he added.
After this “intense” day, Torres will travel to Madrid and later to Rome to, as was already planned, accompany CD Tenerife, which is celebrating its centenary and will be received by the Pope.
THE POPULATION UNDER DEBATE
Finally, questioned about the possibility of reopening the tourist moratorium and the population of the islands, the president of the Canary Islands has indicated that there is a study commission in the Autonomous Parliament where experts and political parties can make their contributions and where it is necessary to “work rigorously”
He added that in the last 25 years islands like La Palma “have barely grown by two percent, other islands have grown by 150 percent, therefore, not all places in the Canary Islands move at the same speed. Thus he has considered that it is an “open debate” that will be taken to the regional chamber.
In the tourist framework, he does consider that “the model is changing”, affirming that people move to places “close, safe from a health point of view”, so “it is possible” that there are “fewer tourists but with same expense or more”.
