The Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Julio Pérez, highlighted today, at the end of the technical coordination meeting of the INFOCAthat the night has been calm and that the perspectives are positive for the control of the forest fire, which allows us to say that “today is a day to consolidate hope”.

During the night only hot spots have been detected in the Tigaiga hillside, which is the area where the aerial resources will focus again. In the rest of the perimeter there are no active points and surveillance is maintained.

If this favorable situation continues, throughout the day the de-escalation of means and the withdrawal of the State reinforcement troops could begin today.

In this sense, the counselor announced that this afternoon the technical proposal for changing the fire to level 1 will be analyzed, under the direction of the Cabildo de Tenerife. The technical director of the INFOCA Plan and deputy director of Civil Protection, Marta Moreno, explained that the weather conditions have improved and today a drop in temperatures and the return of the trade wind regime are expected.

Moreno added that this afternoon it will be analyzed whether the necessary security conditions exist for the relocation of the residents of El Madroño, in Los Realejos, which is the only nucleus that remains evacuated, as well as the reopening of the TF-344.

For his part, Pedro Martínez, head of the firefighting teams, pointed out that last night it was found that the highest part of the Tigaiga slope hardly has any active sources but that, on the other hand, the part that is located above the evacuated area does. It has active zones.

It is green forest that burns slowly, but continues to progress little by little due to the detachment of incandescent material. In this sense, the technicians warned that, although we have evolved to control, it is likely that there will be reproductions in the green forest area over the next few weeks.
