The Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI) of the Government of the Canary Islands has reported that a new island species of sea slug has been located and registered, the Runcina Iangreo Ortea & Moro 2022. This new species has been found in Tenerife, specifically on the coast of Igueste, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, between Caleta El Águila and El Roquete.
It is an animal that is part of the Runcinidae family of medium-sized sea slugs, of the genus Runicina. These slugs belong to the Metazoa kingdom, a natural group closely related to fungi that is characterized by its great capacity for movement, of the Gastropoda class.
