Vincent SolerCSIC volcanologiststated this Wednesday that “the volcanic system of Tenerife is active and we must be vigilant”. The expert has made these statements on Canarias Radio, where he added that this system “has been showing signs of recharging since 2001.”
The volcanologist pointed out that “Tenerife is an entirely volcanic island and its eruptions have been taking place over the centuries, it is true that in 1600 it failed, but in 1500, 1700 and 1800 – not counting the last eruption, that of Chinyero in 1909 – it worked, that is, eruptions occurred.” He added that since the beginning of this 21st century, since 2001, “Tenerife’s volcanic system has been showing signs of recharging. The system is active and we must be very vigilant”, concluded.
The Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan) A swarm of hybrid events of very low magnitude, located under Teide, was recorded from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, which does not imply a greater probability of an eruption.
Involcan reports on its social networks that the Canarian Seismic Network that operates this entity identified at least 350 small seismic events.
