Aldi opens its supermarkets in Telde and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

the food company Aldi opened this Wednesday two supermarkets in Gran Canariain Lower Miller (The Gran Canarian palms) and at the Melenara Crossing (Telde), and two in Tenerifein San Cristobal de La Laguna Y Arafo.

The Telde establishment is located in the Rotunda Councilor Juan Rodríguez Betancourt, nº 1, in the industrial zone of Las Rubiesas, Y has a team of 20 collaboratorsof which 19 have been hired through a program of the Canarian Employment Service (SCE), with which Aldi has been collaborating in recent months.

The new store has a commercial area of ​​more than 1,200 mtwoand will be open 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.. It has a car park with 106 spaces, including two with recharging points for electric vehicles.

In keeping with its commitment to energy efficiency and respect for the environment, the new Aldi supermarket in Telde has solar panels that allow to take advantage of 97% of the energy generated for the consumption of the store itself. In addition, the place has been equipped with LED lighting and home automation, with the aim of avoiding product losses due to breakdowns and improving the functioning of lighting and air conditioning. The facilities also use CO2 as refrigerant gasa more sustainable and efficient alternative to other options available on the market.

The Telde supermarket will offer the residents of the municipality, as well as those of nearby municipalities, “a new space where they can make their complete weekly purchase. A new comfortable and simple purchase option, with quality products at the lowest possible price”, ensures the company.

For the opening in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria there has been a team of 26 collaboratorsof which 25 have been hired through a program of the Canarian Employment Service (SCE), with which ALDI has been collaborating in recent months.

The business will have a car park with 107 spaces, including three with recharging points for electric vehicles.

The premises, like the one in the municipality of Telde, have energy efficiency installations.

Tenerife

The Aldi supermarkets in Tenerife are on Calle El Púlpito, in Los Rodeos (San Cristóbal de La Laguna), open from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and in Valle de Güimar, on Camino de la Molineta without number, in Arafo, in the same time. In both cases, you can go shopping from Monday to Saturday.

Staff training

The Telde supermarket also has a differential value, since It’s an Aldi training store. The company uses it to receive new arrivals from nearby stores so that they can become familiar with the products, processes and usual dynamics of an Aldi supermarket. In addition to the one at Cruce de Melenara, in the Canary Islands there is another training shop in the Tenerife municipality of Arafo.

During the opening of the store, the director of Fresh Products of ALDI Spain, Víctor Asensiohighlighted that “20% of Aldi’s assortment in the Canary Islands is of Canarian originwhich shows that we are committed to local products to supply our stores”.

For his part, the first deputy mayor and Councilor for Territory Government of the Telde City Council, Héctor Suárezassured that “for Telde it is very important that a company of relevant international significance has chosen the city to set up one of its stores, because contributes to the generation of employment and economy in the municipality, in addition to consolidating the Melenara business park as a relevant geostrategic commercial point in Gran Canaria”.

They also attended the event Lidia Esther Mejías, Councilor for Local Development, Commerce and SMEs of the Telde City CouncilY Javier Sampedro Castro, manager of the Melenara Business Park.

Expansion in the Canary Islands

The opening of this store is part of the expansion plan that Aldi is developing in the Canary Islands and that has led the supermarket chain to open four establishments this July. They will open in August three other stores in Tenerife.

For the four stores open today, Aldi has hired over 80 people on the islands. By the end of the year it will have generated more than 240 jobs in the regionbetween office staff, stores and the logistics platform put into operation last May.

In its new supermarkets in the archipelago, Aldi will offer more than 330 articles of Canarian originsuch as fresh products, dairy products, beverages, frozen products and cosmetics, among others, from of 60 Canarian producers. In fact, in its commitment to proximity and trust towards the archipelago’s producers, 20% of Aldi’s assortment in the Canary Islands will be from local suppliers.

Also, Some 100 products will be identified with the ‘I am a Canary’ seala label created especially by ALDI to guarantee customers that the product is made in the Canary Islands or originates from the islands.
