The expectation to once again enjoy the Cavalcade announcing the Carnival It was high, so high that since Thursday night, the carnival people who left the Burial of the Sardine could see how there were already chairs on the sidewalks saving the place to enjoy a unique parade yesterday, which despite announcing the start of the three days of partying in the street, it also had a lot of Coso Apotheosis of Carnival, of an end to the party at least for the groups that, last night, finished their official participation in the party to go on to enjoy the Carnival as one more neighbor in the street.
The Ride It began after eight in the afternoon, starting from the plaza of the Dominican Republic, in whose surroundings the participants had been concentrating for many hours before. The route followed was the usual one, along Avenida de la Asunción, Ramón y Cajal, Galcerán, Plaza de Weyler, Méndez Núñez, El Pilar, Villalba Hervás and La Marina, until arriving at Avenida Francisco La Roche.
As is now tradition, the dean of Santa Cruz Carnival, the NiFú-NiFá, opened the parade and did so accompanied by the Carnival characters. The first of the floats to parade was that of the Carnival Queen, Ruth González Martín, who won the carnival scepter with a design by Santi Castro called Look at me!!! A queen who also had the company not only of her bridesmaids, but also of the child sovereigns, Vera García, and the elders, María del Carmen Ramos.
The light rain that appeared around nine o’clock at night did not spoil the carnival parade at all. Comparsas, murgas, musical groups and rondallas, occupied the first positions of the parade that ran with relative rhythm, and without very pronounced stops.
The children’s murgas accompanied the float of the children’s Queen, who was surrounded by the children’s murgas, the Tropicana children’s troupe and the choreographic groups.
